The Full Story
I received my masters degree from the University of Southern California and my undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University. I was born and raised on the Northcoast of California and I am familiar with the more rural parts of our state. I have two wonderful children and like to spend time in the outdoors camping, kayaking, swimming and hiking. I have a love for animals and have several dogs cats, chickens and goats. I love to garden and watch things grow during the warmer months including fruits and vegetables as well as flowers.
Some of my work experience includes working at a local domestic violence shelter, which was some of the most fulfilling work of my life. I enjoy working with people in crisis and helping individuals navigate different systems. I have worked as an early head start home visitor where I had the privilege to help pregnant moms and young children with developmentally appropriate learning, I love children and want to watch them grow into well adjusted adults. My graduate internship was at a local Veterans resource center in-patient program, where we would explore issues such as addiction, homelessness and trauma as well as interpersonal conflict. After my graduation I worked for a local foster agency where I was able to see the struggles that so many families face. I have worked for community behavioral health services and worked in the jail helping some of the more severely mentally ill members of our community's regain fulfilling lives, and independence.
I have been helping individuals who struggle with many different issues find solutions that work for them. I don't believe that there is a one size fits all solution to every problem. I want to work with you on your particular struggles and come up with a custom solution as well as the knowledge and tools needed to be able to tackle your current life struggle and also set you up for success in the future.
